Sudbury's popular Christmas Tree Festival attracted a bumber number of visitors from near and far to see a record collection of decorated trees.
From Wednesday 7th to Sunday 11th December, young and old flocked to the Festival, despite the occasional high winds and heavy rain. Organisers Valerie and Peter Goodchild, from Sudbury Talbot and Sudbury Rotary Clubs, estimate that at least 7,000 visitors passed through the doors of St. Peter's Church to view the trees.
'We had people travelling especially to visit the festival from Ipswich, Colchester, Braintree and Chelmsford, as well as a coach trip from West Sussex. Their reaction was universal, they said it was the most fantastic thing they'd ever seen,' says Valerie.
Although the final result is not yet known, as some expenses are yet to be settled, it's expected that more than £4,000 will be available to distribute to this year's chosen charities. These are Sudbury Royal British Legion, for the Colchester Rehabilitation Centre, the Friends of St. Peter, to help their work maintaining the church and to the two Rotary Clubes of Sudbury and Sudbury Talbot.
Mackman Group was proud to be a main sponsor of this event, sponsoring a tree at the Festival and also donated its services and created all the posters, flyers and brochures for the important event.
