June 6, 2014.

global awardLocal natural stone paving company, Global Stone, has won a Bronze Flora Medal at one of the most prestigious flower shows in Britain, the Chelsea Flower Show. Sales Director at Global Stone, Julian Wood, described how delighted the Global Stone team are with the award, “It's a fantastic achievement for Global Stone, putting this part of East Anglia on the map for quality garden design.”

It was not just the general public who were impressed with Global Stone's design. The Himalayan Rock Garden managed to attract a number of familiar British faces including gardening expert Charlie Dimmock.
Other famous faces included Michael Parkinson, Alex Politzi, the British hotelier and current presenter of the British television series The Hotel Inspector, as well as actress Sarah Lancashire and recent BAFTA winning actor Ross Kemp, who all expressed real interest in the garden.global garden 161,000 visitors attend the Chelsea Flower Show every year, Julian said “It was brilliant to hear the positive feedback from so many members of the public, expressing how different and unique the garden was. It was great to showcase just what Global Stone can achieve and the opportunities there are within stone paving, from naturally placed sandstone to more styled, and structured feature pieces such as the red-sandstone star feature in our Chelsea design.” (See photo attached).

After months of planning and preparation, Global Stone was among 550 exhibitors at this year's flower show, who ranged from nurseries to gardening product companies and amateur gardeners. Global Stone's Himalayan Rock Garden design was placed in the Fresh Garden Category, competing with the likes of world famous brands such as Gucci and House of Fraser.

Based in Little Tey (Essex), this is now Global Stone's third award at the show, having previously won Bronze in 2012 with their 'Tranquility set in Stone' garden and Silver in 2010 with their 'Bee Friendly Plant Garden'.

“We’d like to thank all those involved in the design and creation of the Himalayan Rock Garden, in particular Janey Auchincloss and James Soane, who brought their vision to the initial design incorporating numerous plants, their textures and colours, with our natural stone paving” said Julian.
