Global Stone off to rock Chelsea Flower Show

April 22, 2014.

Local natural stone paving company, Global Stone, could once again be paving the way to another award with a new garden design at the 2014 Chelsea Flower Show, putting this part of the world on the map for premier garden design. Based in Little Tey (Essex), this will be Global Stone's third garden at the world famous event, having previously been awarded Bronze in 2012 with their 'Tranquility set in Stone' garden and Silver in 2010 with their 'The Bee Friendly Plant Garden'.

Sales Director at Global Stone, Julian Wood, described the prestige associated with exhibiting at the nation’s premier garden event,“To exhibit at Chelsea is an unrivalled opportunity to showcase the variety of our quality products to a huge range of garden lovers. We're passionate about natural, hard-wearing material and excited to show just how much opportunity there is with natural stone.”

This year, Global Stone’s yellow and rose coloured sandstone will lay the foundation for a Himalayan Rock Garden, located at stand FR1. The design will be created by Lavenham garden designer, Janey Auchincloss and London based award-winning architectural company, Project Orange.

Janey Auchincloss said, “My work tends to feature a combination of traditional garden design used in conjunction with contemporary architecture. This year's Himalayan Rock Garden design will use Global Stone's paving to produce a beautiful backdrop for the jewelled carpet of colours and textures that conjure visions of Himalayan craftsmanship”.

The Himalayan Rock Garden

Global Stone's Himalayan Rock Garden will be a collage of cultures, materials and plants. It plans to tell a horticultural story of stones and plants that have travelled from afar to become part of our heritage today.

Global Stone's Modak paving will be used to create intriguing walkways amongst the four segments of the garden design. A light sandstone jewel and stone column will also be sourced and installed by Global Stone. Star features incorporated in the garden will include Global Stone's red sandstone. A timber pavilion will provide a shady bower to view the entire garden and will be donated to charity after the show.
