Return on Investment (ROI) is used to calculate the success of an investment/cost. A high ROI means that the initial investment/cost has resulted in an overall gain.

ROI can be calculated as follows:

Net profit / total cost * 100

i.e. if a client invests £1,000 into a marketing campaign and measures a return of £10,000, the ROI is 900% or 1:9
