Managing Director of Global Stone, sister company of Kent Blaxill, Shirley Spittal, is retiring after 12 years working for the industry-leading supplier of premium natural stone paving.
Shirley joined Global Stone in January 2003, with a background in law, having previously worked for one of the largest legal companies in London. Her experience in this industry allowed Shirley to create the core systems and solid business foundations needed for Global Stone's successful growth.
“I've always had a passion for garden landscape design and working for Global Stone has been an exciting chapter of my life”, said Shirley. “I've thoroughly enjoyed being part of the company's growth.”
Shirley has held a number of roles during her time with Global Stone, including General Manager before being elected for Managing Director in 2012. She has played a significant role in the continued success of the business.
“It's been very rewarding, taking on the many challenges faced by our business year after year, and witness Global Stone's continuous growth due to our hard work and passion for the company's success. There have been too many memorable moments to mention from over the years, but what makes me incredibly proud is having developed a company with loyal customers who have been with us since day one. That's something that speaks for itself.”
Shirley will be officially retiring on the 31st December this year, and is looking forward to having the time to invest in the many interests she has outside of the office, including travel. Shirley will be starting her travel adventures with a trip to Burma and Macedonia in January and February 2015.
Shirley added, “It has been a real adventure working with Global Stone and one that I would not have missed for the world. I hand over to Julian Wood (current Sales and Marketing Director), who like me, has the best interests of the company and customers at heart. I wish the whole team every success in continuing to develop Global Stone and it's leading, quality reputation in the landscape and natural stone paving industry.”
