How To Reset Your WordPress Password
Without a password manager, it can be hard to keep track of all of your logins. If you've forgotten your password for your WordPress user on your website you can quickly reset it without requiring any support from your support team.
Time needed: 2 minutes.
If you've forgotten your WordPress password you can quickly reset it via the inbuilt password reset option.
- Navigate To The WordPress Login Page
Navigate to your WordPress login page. This is commonly www.yourwebsite.com/wp-admin/ or www.yourwebsite.com/wp-login.php. If neither of these options brings up your login page your site may have been configured to use a different URL, in this case, reach out to your web support team.
- Click The "Lost your password?" Option
Underneath the login form, there is a link to reset your password called "Lost your password?". Click this link to head to the password reset screen.
- Enter Your Username Or The Email Address Associated With Your Account
Enter your WordPress username or the email address associated with your account and click on the blue "Get New Password" option.
- Check Your Inbox For Password Reset Email
Check your inbox for the password reset email sent by WordPress and click on the reset URL. Make sure to check your junk/spam/quarantine folders if you can't see the email in your inbox.
- Enter A New Password
You can now either generate or enter a new, secure password for your account. Once you've done that you can click on "Save Password" and then head back to the login page where you can log in with your new password.
