We have also been joined by a new telephone researcher, Orlaith. Meet our newest marketing interns and find out more about them below!

Jess – Insight Intern

My name is Jess, I’m 23 and I just started working at Mackman as an Insight Intern. Last year I completed a Masters degree in Cybercrime Investigation at the University of Central Lancashire, before which I was studying for my Bachelors in Criminology and Sociology at the University of Nottingham. Outside of work and education I have a lot of hobbies, including graphic design/digital art, gaming, bookbinding, and reading, and I have also done quite a bit of volunteer work in the Sudbury area and with the Suffolk Constabulary.

Throughout my degrees I discovered I had an interest in research and statistics. So, what I am most looking forward to from working at Mackman is seeing first-hand how research can be applied practically to change customer’s opinions of a business and their products or services.

Joe – Communications Intern

Hello, I’m Joe, I am currently based in the local Sudbury area and have always lived in the vicinity. I am a BA History graduate from Kingston University where I was able to pursue my love for all things History and had the opportunity to write on a variety of historical topics.

While at university I was introduced to blogging as a way to explore different writing techniques. This allowed me to write in a more personal style which provided an enjoyable contrast to the usual essay work I was assigned. Aside from my interest in content writing, I have also developed a curiosity in rich media since and aim learn more about this side to marketing as my experience grows.

Holly – Communications Intern

I am Holly, and I have been local to the rural Sudbury area my entire life. I am also a Multimedia Journalism graduate from the University of Essex, where I was able to pursue my love for creativity and writing further. My interest in SEO blogging took off from there! Aside from writing, I have always been taken by the world of digital marketing, especially email campaigns and creative social media posts.

I am a big animal lover, my favourite type of animal has got to be sloths – one of my life goals is to see them in the wild in the Costa Rican jungles. Also, I am a big movie fan and a video game lover, so when I’m not working there’s a good chance I’m engrossed in one of these!

Ben – Media & Creative Intern

I’m Ben, a Design & Media Intern at Mackman in Suffolk. My passions include videography, football and running. After taking a keen interest to Media at GCSE level, I went on to study Creative Media Production at West Suffolk College. I was able to work on a variety of briefs from short films to music videos to advertisements and animations. This then drove me to study TV Production at Ravensbourne University in London. This enabled me to get a further understanding of the technical side of the industry and I had work placements at BT Sport & ITV Sport, working with high profile talent and assisting with the recording of live and pre-recorded shows.

I have background experience in creating promotional videos for a variety of business types, event & product photography and aspects of digital design, branding and web design. Content creation is what excites me most about marketing. Having a strong video background, the pace the marketing world is excelling at alongside the capabilities of platforms and new technologies makes the industry compelling and rewarding.

Orlaith – Telephone Researcher

Hi, I’m Orlaith! I am based in Lancaster. My hobbies include digital drawing, writing, and Krav Maga. I had originally planned to be a concept artist but quickly found that the industry wasn’t mentally taxing enough and I wanted to keep my hobbies as hobbies. I had originally studied Computer Games Development in Lancaster and Morecambe College, and then started studying Health and Social Care after I finished my first course.

I ultimately ended up studying Psychology at Lancaster University. I had originally planned to become a forensic psychologist but found myself not liking the vagueness of the research in that area. I took a gap year as a special notetaker for disabled students at Lancaster before finding a Masters course in Cybercrime Investigations at UCLan. From there I have been given the opportunity to work with Mackman Group. I enjoy a challenge and working with research. I like to balance creative and academic approaches to get the best outcome in all situations.
