Colchester-based scholarly association, the European Consortium for Political Research (ECPR), has chosen Mackman to support the commemoration of its 50-year anniversary in 2020, following a competitive tender period.

ECPR and the Mackman team

The ECPR is an international organisation that represents academics and universities worldwide in the study and teaching of politics and international relations, encouraging training, research and cross-national co-operation among political science scholars. The ECPR has been based in Colchester since it was established in 1970 at the University of Essex. In 2014, after 44 years of continued growth, the organisation moved to its own headquarters at Harbour House on Hythe Quay, just a mile from its original home.

As the ECPR approaches its 50th year, it sought a partnership that could strategically guide and support the celebrations of the landmark year. Mackman secured the competitive tender with the ECPR due to our extensive experience in brand development and strategy.

“The ECPR is an international association, serving a global community of academics, but it has a close and enduring connection to the Colchester area. It was therefore important to us to work with a local agency on this high-profile project. With Mackman we immediately felt we had found a partner who understood not just the organisation, but what we wanted to achieve through this collaboration.”

Rebecca Gethen – Communications Manager, ECPR

The Project

The project aims to refresh the ECPR’s brand and marketing, with the creation of clear brand guidelines that will be informed through collaborative insight into key stakeholders and ECPR’s brand architecture. These guidelines will help the team manage and maintain consistency across all activities, sub-brands and partnerships.

“We’re looking forward to working with the ECPR in re-vitalising their identity through a strategic review and redesign of their brand, in celebration of their landmark 50-year anniversary in 2020.”

Paul Mackman – Managing Director, Mackman
