Sudbury has been involved in the silk industry for more than 100 years, and silk weaving is still very much part of our tradition today. Festival organiser Ruth Philo wanted to celebrate the rich history of the silk industry in Sudbury by showcasing colourful displays from the five silk weaving companies still operating in Sudbury, including Humphries Weaving and Vanners Silk.

Mackman became involved with the project to promote and support the branding and marketing of the festival, with output including branding, photography, leaflets, and a website allow people to learn about Sudbury’s silk heritage. Around 5,000 people attended the event on September 7th 2019, and there are plans for the festival to continue on an annual basis.
