Bruce Burgoyne Chartered Marketer Achievement
Our Creative and Digital Director, Bruce Burgoyne CFCIM, has achieved Chartered Marketer status with The Chartered Institute of Marketing and can now use the CFCIM designation as a Chartered Fellow.
The achievement recognises a career that combines considerable brand and marketing experience with a commitment to keeping that expertise current. Bruce completed the required Continuing Professional Development and formal assessment to achieve Chartered status, which CIM describes as its highest level of professional recognition for marketers.
Bruce started working with Mackman in 2004, just a year after the business was founded. Since then, he has contributed to work involving more than 400 brands, helping organisations understand their position, develop their brand and marketing strategy, and translate that thinking into creative and digital work.
Brand Strategy Through to Delivery
Bruce’s work spans brand and marketing strategy, creative practice and digital delivery. His recent work includes consultancy and delivery for Disaster Care, William Blyth, Sussex Brick and SatinHaus.
Across those relationships, his role extends well beyond visual identity. Bruce works with organisations to understand where their brand sits, what it needs to communicate and how marketing activity can support wider business objectives.
That strategic thinking then informs the practical work delivered by the wider Mackman team, from brand identity and messaging through to websites, campaigns and ongoing marketing communications.
This ability to work across strategy and delivery has remained central to Bruce’s role throughout his time with Mackman.
From Teaching to Team Development
Before joining Mackman, Bruce practised and lectured in branding and creative marketing. That teaching background remains visible in the way he works today.
Alongside his client responsibilities, Bruce mentors the specialists around him, helps colleagues develop their thinking and supports the professional development of the wider team. His contribution is therefore measured not only in the work he produces, but also in the capability he helps others to build.

Digital Experience That Continues to Evolve
Bruce has worked with WordPress since the platform was first launched in 2003, giving him a long-term perspective on how websites, digital experiences and the relationship between brand and technology have developed.
He continues to apply that experience to emerging technology. Bruce has become an important contributor to the responsible adoption of artificial intelligence across Mackman Group and to the governance work supporting our progress towards ISO IEC 42001 certification.
That combination is central to what Chartered status represents: experience that continues to be tested, developed and applied as marketing and technology change.
Bruce on Achieving Chartered Status
“Having worked with Mackman since 2004, I have seen the profession change enormously, but the importance of continuing to learn has remained constant. Achieving Chartered status through CPD and formal assessment is meaningful to me because it recognises both experience and an ongoing commitment to developing your practice.”
“My work now spans brand and marketing strategy, digital delivery, WordPress and the responsible adoption of AI, alongside supporting and mentoring the specialists around me. I have always believed that experience is most valuable when you continue to challenge it, share it and build on it.”
Independent Recognition of a Longstanding Approach
For clients working with Mackman Branding and Marketing, Bruce’s Chartered status provides independent recognition of an approach that has long characterised his work: combining strategic thinking with practical delivery, professional judgement and a commitment to keeping his expertise current.
It also supports the wider way we approach branding and marketing at Mackman. Strategy comes first, helping us understand an organisation, its audiences and its objectives before determining the creative, digital or marketing activity required.
Bruce was also closely involved when Mackman became the world’s first CIM Company Affiliate in 2023. His CFCIM achievement is another step in the wider Mackman journey to embed professional standards and structured development across our marketing practice.
Congratulations, Bruce.
