Rebecca Reynolds, Kitchen Designer at local kitchen firm, and Mackman clients, the Kitchen Showroom Ltd (KSL), won the prestigious award of Young Designer of the Year at the Kitchen Bathroom Bedroom Specialists Association (KBSA) annual national design awards on Tuesday 23rd September.
“It’s so exciting to have won Young Designer of the Year”, said Rebecca. “The award really celebrates the high calibre of our designs at KSL. I have always loved interior design and the creative challenges involved in kitchen and bathroom designs. It’s an honour to have won, especially given the record number of entries that the KBSA received this year.”
The KBSA is a national trade association for the interiors industry, bringing together more than 300 accredited independent retailers. Its logo is used by trusted kitchen, bathroom and bedroom designers and installers, to give customers peace of mind that the company meets the high standards of quality and service set by the KBSA.
Rebecca was also nominated for the most amount of awards of any other candidate, getting through as a finalist in the ‘Kitchen Designer of the Year’ and ‘Kitchen Concept’ categories. After beating more than 100 other nominees, Rebecca was judged ‘best in class’ in the Young Designer of the Year category, a win that brings national recognition to the high standard of designs at Sudbury’s KSL.
Graham Ball, Chief Executive Officer KBSA, said ‘It is most rewarding to recognise young talent in our industry, and this year’s entries have again demonstrated that the industry is in safe hands as these young designers continue to develop their skills.“The judges commented that her entry showed a lot of maturity for such a young designer, and for all the entries for this category said, ‘the one real stand-out for us was to see the quality of the young talent in our industry – not just in terms of design appeal, but their technical ability was outstanding.’
KBSA is the only trade association in the industry, which makes the awards incredibly competitive. “It’s an enormous achievement for both Rebecca and the company”, said Richard Hibbert, Managing Director of KSL.“KSL is continuing to thrive, and this award really helps put Sudbury on the map for excellent kitchen, bathroom and bedroom designs.”
