Our outside space is transforming into a flexible new area to meet clients, hold events, and work collaboratively. Sudbury locals may have noticed a hive of activity at Mackman in recent weeks, and we are excited to share the results of our designers’ and contractors’ hard work with the community very soon.

Covid has provided us with an opportunity to reflect on the use of our outdoor area, previously used as a car park with limited staff seating area in good weather. We recognised that our projects involve a high degree of client interaction to ensure that we get to know the businesses and organisations we are working with as much as possible, both inside and out. The potential of our outdoor area was not being utilised, and this led to our Creative Director, Bruce, drawing up designs for a comprehensive revamp.

Giving this space a new lease of life benefits our clients as well as the team here at Mackman, and we are now able to make better use of this space. The designs include a converted shipping container to provide shelter, several seating areas, and a paved area, all while retaining the parking spaces for several cars. Be it through the hosting of outdoor meetings with clients in a Covid-safe manner, or offering an enriching environment for those who work here, the space is designed to be flexible to suit the business’s needs.

Our plans set into motion on the 19th April when contractors from Alex Mills Tree Surgery began the process of digging up and levelling the land to make it suitable for the paving to follow. Since then, work has been underway to create a paved terrace area, and the shipping container was delivered on 26th April. You can view more photographs from the project on our Instagram Highlight. Our exterior walls have also been painted, along with a brand new painted sign from the talented Wayne Tanswell. Our Managing Director, Paul Mackman, had this to say about our new outdoor space:

“It’s an exciting and energising project, providing an innovative way to embrace the changes in our working lifestyle. I want to say a big thanks to our staff, contractors and supporters who have all contributed so positively.”
