Influential album artwork designer Storm Thorgerson has passed away at the age of 69. He began his design career with UK design group Hipgnosis, founded in the late 1960s and his recognisable style meant he'd become one of the industry's most well-known artists.
He was famous for designing covers for Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin and more recent bands such as Muse and Biffy Clyro. He had a huge effect on the creative industry and on Bruce Burgoyne, our Creative Lead, in particular.
"Graphic design and music have always stood side by side, often influencing one another, " says Bruce. "As a student studying design, like many others I always dreamt of designing artwork for my favourite bands. Storm Thorgerson like all great designers may never have become a household name but you can guarantee his work will sit in most peoples music collections. The silent success of graphic design is what inspired me to follow this career path."

I cite them as a significant reason why I became interested in marketing and I still buy them to this day. Ever since I started working as a young teenager with a Saturday job they have been a reward to myself. As such Storm Thorgerson played an important and influential role in my life and I respectfully mourn his passing and thank him for his work. My favorites of his work are "Wish you were here" by Pink Floyd and Led Zepplins "Houses of the holy" both stunning albums in their entirety."
