Newson Innovations was set up by Ken Newson in 2009 as a platform to launch a product that he had invented. Ken Newson is a time-served apprentice clock maker and qualified engineer. He has lengthy post-qualification experience of working with world-class organisations – Rolls Royce Gas Turbines, Rover Gas Turbines, Honeywell in Turbines and Fluidics (in the UK and USA) and as a Director of his own company Remek Fluidics.

We worked with Ken to provide branding, company stationery, and a responsive website that would showcase his wide range of experience and interests, both professional and personal.

Brand Facts

  • Ken retired following a stroke in December 1999. He has occupied himself since that time by setting up a support group, Success After Stroke, now a registered charity in its own right.
  • He set up a registered charity – The Bridge Project, Sudbury – for the education of vulnerable adults.
  • In addition, he has taken up various engineering projects and developments, for example, building a racing car in first principle which he drove in Le Mans 2005 in the parade of Lotus Legends, and designing and building a pure water clock which is on public exhibition in Sudbury Suffolk.

Project Facts

  • Ken approached Mackman with the need for branding, company stationery and a website to support the development of his personal brand, and to promote product awareness.

The Results

We worked closely with Ken to develop new branding that was then applied to his stationery suite. A new website and copy were provided following close collaboration with Ken and the staff at Mackman Group. The website was fully content managed using a platform that was scalable and suitable for future development, helping with product awareness. Training was provided on how to populate the site and make any future changes. All the work was provided on a pro-bono basis.

I obtained a grant from EEDA to develop my invention but funds for other marketing materials were not available. Without the pro-bono help from Mackman Group, I would not have had the logo, business cards, letterheads and website that I have today.
