Those of you who know me well, will be aware of how I extol the benefits to marketers of engaging with the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM). It is the sectors governing body and if you are a marketing professional who is serious about your subject and progressing your career, then you need to be a member. Personally over the years I have put myself through all the various levels of CIM qualifications and now find myself a Chartered Fellow at the top of my profession with still much to learn. I am also proud to recently have been invited and elected as Vice Chair of the Eastern Region at a time when the Institute has never been so progressive.
There are a number of resources, developments and pieces of news that I would like to share with you:
There are free resources well worth taking a look at via The Marketer website (magazine of the CIM). Here you will find webinars, reports, guides and other information. Marketing Expert area of the CIM website is also worth checking out if you are a member.
The CIM is soon to launch a new qualification, an ‘A’ level in marketing. This will be available to colleges across the country and offer an introduction to our sector for those serious about forging a career from a young age.
A Digital marketing strategy bootcamp is taking place in Cambridge on the 5th February at 9.30. The day is designed for those responsible for developing digital marketing strategies.
The morning session will focus on:
- Analysis – review use of digital media to reach target audiences.
- Planning – create or refine a strategy to improve results from digital marketing.
- Five step process – evaluate, objectives, strategy, implement and measure.
There will be three, one-hour afternoon sessions that will concentrate on strategy implementation, specifically in relation to the three pillars of content marketing, and how to develop social media and e-mail as key elements of any integrated communications plan. Attending this bootcamp will tone up your digital marketing activities so that your brand can compete more effectively online. Prices are between £50 and £150.
Finally, for all marketing professionals at every level, why not take part in the global discussion about the future of marketing via the Hackathon. Take a look, share your views and play a part in shaping our sector.
p.s. By the way – if you hadn’t already spotted, the CIM has a new brand.
